This page explains what we collect when you use designmind.media, why, and what you can do about it. If anything here isn't clear, email talk@designmind.media.
Who we are
designmind publishes long-form conversations with designers. For data protection purposes, designmind is the data controller for information collected through this site.
All data protection enquiries, including requests to see, correct or delete your data, should go to talk@designmind.media. We'll acknowledge and deal with them from there.
What we collect
If you join the newsletter — your email address. It's stored by MailerLite, who send our emails on our behalf. You'll be asked to confirm by email before anything is sent to you.
If you use the contact form — your name, email address, the subject you choose and your message. These reach us by email through Web3Forms, who pass the message on and don't use it for anything else.
If you tick the newsletter box on the contact form — your email is also added to the newsletter list. If you leave it unticked, your enquiry stays an enquiry.
If you accept cookies — anonymous information about how the site is used: pages viewed, roughly where in the world you are, what kind of device you're on. We can't identify you from it.
Why we collect it
- Newsletter — to send you new conversations. Based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Enquiries — to reply to you. Based on our legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch.
- Analytics — to understand what people actually read and watch. Based on your consent.
Cookies
The site sets no tracking cookies until you accept them. Decline, and no analytics load at all.
If you accept, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which conversations get watched. IP addresses are anonymised. Google's own privacy information is at policies.google.com/privacy.
We also store one small item in your browser to remember your cookie choice, so you aren't asked on every visit. That isn't tracking and can't identify you.
To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser settings and the choice will be offered again.
Who else sees your data
- MailerLite — newsletter delivery. Privacy policy
- Web3Forms — passes contact form messages to our inbox. Privacy policy
- Google Analytics — site statistics, only with your consent.
- Cloudflare — hosts the site and serves it securely.
We don't sell your data and we don't share it with anyone for advertising.
How long we keep it
Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries are kept as long as they're useful for the conversation they started, then deleted. Analytics data expires on Google's standard retention schedule.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email talk@designmind.media and we'll deal with it within a month.
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you're off the list.
If you think we've handled your data badly, you can complain to the ICO in the UK, or to your national data protection authority in the EU.
